Spring 2008

Attention Graduating Seniors

If you are interested in continuing your education at UNLV for a M.S. degree in either Computer Science or Informatics, there may be funding opportunities available to cover the cost of your tuition plus a stipend. We are currently looking for a student that has an interest in web application development. If you are interested, please contact Professor Bryce (reneebryce [at] cs.unlv.edu).

Fall 2007

ABET Accreditation Visit

The School of Computer Science was visited by an ABET accreditation team in late October. The visit went well and the school is awaiting a final report.

Dr. Pinelle Receives Award

Dr. David Pinelle received an honorable mention award at the Computer/Human Interaction 2007 Conference for "Improving Recognition and Characterization in Groupware with Rich Embodiments" which he co-authored with T. Stach, C. Gutwin, and P. Irani.

Fall 2006

Dr. Pedersen Authors Best Paper

Dr. Matt Pedersen received a best paper award for "Approximating the Buffer Allocation Problem Using Epochs" which he co-authored with A. Brodsky at the Parallel and Distributed Computing and Systems 2006 Conference.

John Minor has been appointed Director and welcome to Renee Bryce, who has been hired as an Assistant Professor.

Summer 2006

JT3 Summer Internships

Fall - 2005

CS Major Wins Math Competition!

David Hannasch, a sophomore majoring in Computer Science, won 1st place in the 7th Annual Mathematics Competition held on October 8, 2005. Congratulations David!

Welcome, Mr. Jorgensen

The School of Computer Science welcomes Ed Jorgensen as a Visiting Lecturer for the 2005-06 academic year.

Congratulations Dr. Berghel!

Effective Fall 2005, Dr. Hal Berghel, former director of the School of Computer Science, assumes the position of Associate Dean of New Programs for the College of Engineering.

Minor Appointed Interim Director

Effective July 1st, Dr. John T. Minor was appointed to Interium Director for a one year term. At the end of that time, a new Director of the School of Computer Science will be selected. Congratulations Dr. Minor!

Cooper Retires

At the end of Spring Semester, Dr. Nina Cooper announced that she is retiring. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Dr. Cooper. We will miss you.

Dr. Yoohwaan Kim is now in TBE B382 and Dr. Matt Pedersen is in TBE B384.
